Module 02 Reflection

Transdisciplinary Programme is units of inquiry collaboratively planned, developed, and modified by all involved i.e., teachers, subject specialists, and students. Keeping the learners always in the centre, the programme is broad, balanced, holistic and transformative. It integrates existing knowledge, skills and understanding, further developing the same. The Transdisciplinary Learning Experience is brought to life by the continuous relationship between the learner, the learning community, and the learning and teaching.

Along with transdisciplinary learning, a concept-driven curriculum is another foundation of the PYP. Conceptual thinking helps the learner to construct meaning through critical thinking and the transfer of knowledge and understanding, challenging how they engage with significant ideas. Key concepts provide a lens for conceptual understandings within a central idea associated with a transdisciplinary theme; related concepts provide a lens for conceptual understandings within a specific subject.

Approaches to learning (ATL) are an integral part of an IB education, offering up an array of lenses for students to promulgate their inquiries. The ATL are crucial for exploring knowledge within the transdisciplinary themes: they help students think, research, communicate, socialize, and manage themselves effectively.
