Module 04 Learning Engagement 03

Identify which of the PYP teacher capabilities you have selected. 1.     I will promote student reflection and action in response to their learning. 2.     I will select teaching approaches, resources, technologies, learning experiences and assessments that are inclusive and effective for diverse students.   Consider what success in these areas might look like and what approaches you could use to continue learning post workshop.   Evidence of success- 1.     Through taking individual and collective action, students develop their sense of responsibility and appreciate the benefits of working with others for a shared purpose. 2.     Provide opportunities to the learners to have thoughtful consideration of their own learning and experiences. This will enable them to assess and understand their strengths and limitations to support their learning and personal development. 3.   ...

Module 04 Reflection

Creating a learner-centred environment focusing on our students and their learning needs should be considered. The learning spaces in the classroom are   intentional  and each one serves a purpose. Since young students learn through play and discovery, we need to provide opportunities to play independently and in groups. Open and inclusive spaces develop a sense of ownership, routines, rituals, and shared understandings. As the learner is the centre of all learning; agency, planning, inquiry, international mindedness, collaboration, assessment, interconnectedness, Approaches to Learning and Learner Profile Attributes helps the learner as a bud to bloom into a flower. This shows IB PYP as a holistic, transdisciplinary, and coherent learning experience.

Module 03 Reflection

A gency   is about allowing students to learn through methods and activities that are meaningful and relevant to them, offering opportunities to develop essential skill. Action  is an integral part of the PYP learning process. Through taking individual and collective action, students develop their sense of responsibility and appreciate the benefits of working with others for a shared purpose. Inquiry  is purposeful and authentic and as a part of the learner profile, students are supported by the teachers in becoming “inquirers” as it nurtures curiosity and promotes enthusiasm for life-long learners. The constructivist inquiry process of asking (inquiry), thinking (reflection) and doing (action) leads towards open classrooms where different views and perspectives are valued. Collaboration  with the students, parents, single subject teachers as well as the PYP coordinator plays an important role. It brings in a lot of reflection for us to see how much the learne...

Module 02 Reflection

Transdisciplinary Programme is units of inquiry collaboratively planned, developed, and modified by all involved i.e., teachers, subject specialists, and students. Keeping the learners always in the centre, the programme is broad, balanced, holistic and transformative. It integrates existing knowledge, skills and understanding, further developing the same. The Transdisciplinary Learning Experience is brought to life by the continuous relationship between the learner, the learning community, and the learning and teaching. Along with transdisciplinary learning, a concept-driven curriculum is another foundation of the PYP. Conceptual thinking helps the learner to construct meaning through critical thinking and the transfer of knowledge and understanding, challenging how they engage with significant ideas. Key concepts provide a lens for conceptual understandings within a central idea associated with a transdisciplinary theme; related concepts provide a lens for conceptual understand...

Module 01 Reflection

Module 01 provided me with the required insights about how IB Learner Profile attributes are the core of all learning in IB.  The IB learner profile represents a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that encompass intellectual, personal, emotional, and social growth. Developing and demonstrating the attributes of the learner profile provides an important foundation for international mindedness. The learner profile supports students in taking action for positive change. I also understood the importance of imbibing international mindedness among the students. International mindedness encourages students to feel proud of who they are, it teaches students to be independent and capable. They are shown the importance of   making honest and fair choices .  It’s important to lay down its roots in the children when they are young. The role of language is vast and not confined to be learnt as a subject. The essence of language and its transdisciplinarity lies...
